Yes. We meet & exceed the energy efficiency rating required as standard in most cases. In some cases depending on your block location, orientation of the house, external colours, external materials, floor and window coverings selected, homes may need some modifications to meet the EER (energy efficiency rating) requirements. The EER compliance can be determined, when the feature site survey with house orientation on the block is completed and other design selection elements being incorporated in the house are advised. Based on these selections some homes might require additional materials or modifications to meet the EER and may be incorporated as optional extras if required. We offer a free initial EER estimate and the EER report for council building applications; this service is provided free of charge to customers who purchase stages 1 & 2

Can steel-framed homes be built on piers or concrete slabs?
Either. Steel frames can be direct fixed to a concrete slab, which are widely used in Australian homes, or fixed to lightweight, cost effective steel floor systems on brick, concrete or steel piers. It is worth noting that an elevated steel sub-floor system works as an excellent first line of defence against termite invasion.
Do steel framed homes cost more?
No. Steel frames are widely available pricing should generally be available for standard house designs from progressive builders who are utilising innovative steel building frame technology. Construction costs are similar for all homes that use durable framing materials.
Do you supply a design service?
Yes, we supply a full design service and prepare all the architectural plans required to be submitted to authorities for the building application for customers who purchase our smartsteel frames.

Manufacturing Plant
The Smartsteel ENDURO™ rollformer is an all-in-one steel framing rollformer that is capable of producing all steel sections required for steel trusses and wall frames.
Being capable of manufacturing frames and trusses for all wind speeds from N1 – C4. A ribbed C-section is used for studs and trusses while an unribbed U-section is used for plates and nogging. Using a ribbed section increases the strength of studs by up to 20% over unribbed sections, meaning that you can use less steel in frames and trusses. In addition, the ribbed C-section is asymmetrical which allows it to be boxed, where required for additional strength. The U-section is slightly larger than the ribbed C-section allowing the C-section to snap into the boxed section without the need of swaging.

The Smartsteel ENDUROCADD® software is a sophisticated software system with full scale testing of connectors and wall framing systems conducted in the National Association of Testing Authorities accredited laboratory. This means that our design and detailing is based on testing – not theory. The result is a more efficient steel framing system that uses less steel that you can also trust.
